Job Vacancy: General Labourer (Short Term 4 Month Temporary Contract)
Location: TQ9 5JD
Pay Rate: £12.59 Per Hour PAYE
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 08:00 - 16:00
The successful candidate will be welcomed into a team that maintains the Council's property and assets. Varied and wide-ranging, challenging and engaging, the work you will undertake will include day-to-day reactive repairs and planned maintenance across our picturesque districts. Either working alone under your initiative or as an important part of a larger team on project work, we will ask that applicants have a flexible approach to their workday to meet the demands of the reactive and planned repairs we undertake
Responsibilities: As a General Labourer, your primary responsibilities will include:
To undertake works as detailed on task sheets and specifications as instructed.
To ensure that all work is always completed to the relevant professional standards.
To liaise with the Supervisor/Senior Specialist to ensure the work is completed on time and to the required standards.
To use your time effectively and efficiently.
To have a flexible approach to all tasks, to allow us to meet the demands of emergency tasks that continually change our work patterns.
To ensure that the Council's resources and equipment are used safely and to the best advantage.
To accurately record the time and materials used on each task.
To ensure that all activities conform to Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work and/or relevant Health and Safety regulations and Codes of Practice.
To ensure that the correct Personal Protective Equipment is used for each task.
To conduct regular inspections of tools, plant equipment and the vehicle that the post holder may be required to drive.
To comply with the Council's Driving Standards Policy and complete mandatory vehicle checks.Skills and Experience: To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Possess a full driving licence
Holds a professional trade qualification
Forklift Licence
UK 7.5 tonne licence
Plant operations licence
Use of power and hand tools
