Job Description

The Client

Our client is one of the largest engineering surveying companies across the UK with over 150 employed engineers across 9 offices. Our client specialises in land, measured building, and underground utility surveys as well as monitoring and site engineering projects. Our client is recruiting for a survey technician to join their team in Essex.

Job Specification

As a survey technician, you will be responsible for completing small to medium survey projects independently using the latest technology such as total stations and GPS.

Our client is looking to hear from an enthusiastic surveyor keen to take the next step in their career and build on existing knowledge and experience. This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however, site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.

Key Responsibilities

* Independently executing small to medium-scale topographical surveys with a strong focus on maintaining high-quality standards.

* Collaborating with and following instructions from the lead surveyor when working on extensive and intricate surveying projects.

* Processing survey data and CAD data to meet rigorous working standards.

* Demonstrating a proficient understanding of traversing and GPS control networks.

* Precisely configuring surveying instruments, recording data, and providing logistical support to fellow team members.

* Efficiently contributing to projects alongside trainee and junior surveyors, offering practical on-site experience to aid in their professional development.

* Conducting initial site inspections and completing dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites, ensuring that all necessary safety measures are in place before commencing the work.

* Engaging in training to acquire skills in measured building surveying, laser scanning, conducting large complex topographical surveys, and gaining basic knowledge of site engineering and setting out.

Requirements

* Prior experience in the surveying field (1-3+ years).

* Prior experience conducting independent small to medium-scale topographical surveys.

* Proficient in processing raw survey and CAD data to a high standard.

* Familiarity with traversing and GPS control networks.

* Technical proficiency and hands-on experience in topographical surveying, including the use of surveying tools and software.

* Enthusiastic about establishing a long-term career and expanding skills across various surveying disciplines.

* Capable of both collaborative teamwork and independent tasks.

* Possession of a valid UK driver's license.

* Eligible to work in the UK.
