Trainee Plant Operator / Driver – Doncaster Area, South Yorkshire

Salary: up to £60,000 per annum

We are John Mee Vac-Ex Hire based in Armthorpe just off the M18 near Doncaster. We specialise in Vacuum Excavation operations. Vacuum excavation describes the method of safely excavating around buried utilities.  

Vac-Ex has been a major player in the construction industry since 2004, with their first project being  short listed for 2 awards. Since then, Vac-Ex has developed their operation and are proud to have over 1 million hours service strike free all due to their rigorous training, safety protocols and cutting  edge vacuum excavation units.

The company has major plans for future expansion, which is why we are looking for dynamic, task focussed, high quality plant operators. 

Trainee Plant Operator / Driver Role

As a Vac-Ex Plant Operator, you will be required to provide service trenches, perimeter digs, as well as bespoke access solutions across a range of construction tasks. Vac-Ex have a high priority on health & safety and this is a key mindset for all our plant operators.

The role:

You will be required to drive a 32 tonne unit (vacuum excavation unit)
UK-wide travel including working away from home on a regular basis
This is NOT just a driving position; however, you will be trained to operate the excavation plant to a high standard.
Reports to the Operations Team

Trainee Plant Operator / Driver Requirements & Skills:

You must hold a minimum class 2 HGV licence
Proactive and flexible attitude with an ability to problem solve is essential
CSCS card would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate
Experience in driving left hand drive vehicles would also be advantageous, along with towing experience but this is not essential
All weather working on construction sites and occasional night work involved
