Chartered Building Consultant | Home working/remote/satellite office in Highlands Scotland | Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm | Salary will be depending on the candidate and their skillset

Are you an experienced Chartered Surveyor/Building Consultant seeking a dynamic, multi-faceted role with a reputable consultancy firm?

Our client is offering an exciting opportunity to join their team of Chartered Professionals.

Established in January 2001, our client is a leading multi-disciplinary practice providing professional consultancy services to a diverse range of public and private sector clients. With a focus on insurance repair work, across the North of England and all of Scotland, they pride themselves on delivering high standards and individual attention to all their clients.

In this role, you will play a crucial role in performing inspection and assessment of insurance peril related damage, i.e. floods, fire, burst pipe, storm, subsidence etc, including to scope the repair work, contract administrate the construction phase. You will utilise your extensive experience in residential and commercial property to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong construction and building defect knowledge.

Projects bring the need for external consultants such as engineers, architects and other specialist persons.  The role requires managing these internal or external consultants, in support of delivering the repair works to completion.

Extensive experience and knowledge of different property types and associated defects
Self-confidence and the ability to work unsupervised
Practical approach to buildability and on-site problem-solving
Strong diagnostic skills for engineering and building defects
Effective report writing and communication skills
Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills
Dealing with people in sensitive situations
What will your role look like?

Building defect diagnosis
Preparation of schedules of work and tender documents
Completing and implementing standard forms of building contracts
Contract administrating building projects
Close liaison and communicating with policyholders/clients, contractors, insurers and loss adjusters
Managing client/business relationships
Undertaking site visits and attending project meetings
Managing projects across all stages
Supervising and managing third-party contractors
Subsidence inspections/surveys and reports
Organising and managing site investigation work
