As a Lead Research Project Manager (PhD qualified) (desk-based project role) with experience in scientific writing in oncology and health education you would be responsible for heading up, developing and managing the delivery of an ongoing project looking at the relationships in the areas of nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public healthand overseeing the latest in cancer statistics.As lead research project manager, you will be able to writing scientifically, lead on strategy of the project going forward, copy write, edit and proofread, with good attention to detail and with experience of working with scientific research/literature and interpreting research.
You will lead the interpretation of the cancer research project thus far and be responsible providing support to the of Research and Policy and the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation in the oversight and strategic direction of the programme of work.
The project provides a global analysis of all relevant data linking diet, nutrition, physical activity and cancer, and is underpinned by a database housed at a top London university.You will have overall responsibility to take the lead in the project and contribute to the overall strategy underpinning the project and its outputs.
Responsibilities:
Leading and supporting research projects in providing an up-to-date analysis of the evidence linking diet, nutrition and physical activity to risk of, and survival from, cancer (in systematic literature reviews, SLRs)
Support guidance on how best to reduce risk of cancer and improve outcome after diagnosis (for cancer prevention recommendations)
Expand work on cancer survivors, including assessing the evidence on the role of diet, body fatness and physical activity on outcomes after breast, colorectal and prostate cancer survivors
Continue to provide the best possible estimates of risk/benefit related to pertinent exposures and outcomes
Qualification and Experience
Educated to PhD level , with ideally at least 2 years postdoctoral experience in a research environment, in a relevant area (e.g. nutrition, cancer, epidemiology, public health).
Excellent understanding of public health and epidemiology, nutrition and/or cancer and have experience of conducting and/or interpreting systematic reviews.
You will have strong people management skills, with direct line management experience (small teams)
Experience of writing scientifically, copywriting, editing and proofreading, with good attention to detail and with experience of working with scientific research/literature and interpreting research.
Proven experience of project management and/or planning projects.
Excel, Word, PowerPoint and databases.
Experience of writing scientific papers and presenting to scientific audiences (desirable)
