Contract: 6month temporary to permanent position

Basic Hours: 8am- 5pm Monday to Friday

*Must live within commutable distance, office based only.

Having won several new clients and some big projects expected to land, we are looking to recruit a 2D AutoCAD Technician to join the Design department at our established bespoke joinery company based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

About the Company

We are a high-end bespoke joinery manufacturer, working predominantly for the Design & Build, Cat B Office fitout sector, taking pride in high quality finished products. We offer design proposals to client specification, in aid of creating a functional, productive workplace environment. From office to site, we apply the same professional practices, whether the project is small furniture fitout or a complete ‘CAT B’ joinery fit-out project.

The Successful Candidate

This position requires a technically skilled individual, preferably knowledgeable of furniture assembly techniques to aid the construction of joinery items, though essentially with a joinery/furniture manufacturing background. We require someone who is self-motivated, has meticulous attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, and who shows interest to learn.

As an AutoCAD Technician you will use 2D AutoCAD software to convert creative design concepts into solutions suitable for manufacture, taking into consideration end use, material properties, Installation/ assembly methods, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

* Use AutoCAD software to accurately create technical drawings for client approval.

* Provide design proposals to PMs and Client to establish design solutions.

* Ensure all drawings are designed to the correct size and specification, whilst taking particular consideration to site constraints and relevant building regulations.

* Liaise and attend meetings with internal departments, suppliers, and clients, to offer design proposals where necessary.

* Occasionally required to attend site to conduct detailed surveys.

* Work with internal teams to explore innovative construction methods and research suitable materials.

* Produce drawings for production and setting out information for the workshop.

* Deliver drawings within timescales agreed with Design Manager.

Skills & Attributes:

* Mathematically skilled, with relevant technical knowledge to confidently use AutoCAD software.

* A quick learner, who can maintain focus and a high level of accuracy under pressure.

* Well organised and works methodically, with excellent time management.

* Has the ability to communicate at all levels, internally and externally.

* Can work independently as well as in a team, whilst under pressure and to tight deadlines.

* Demonstrates Knowledge of joinery manufacturing techniques, common materials, components, and construction methods.

* Has the ability to accurately use basic measuring equipment.

* Can apply self-initiative, with ability to read and interpret creative design visuals.

* Computer literate with confidence to use Microsoft packages, including; Office, Power-Point, Word and Excel.

* Commercially aware and keen to keep up to date with latest design trends

Essential requirements:

3+ years’ experience using AutoCAD software for joinery/furniture production.

Knowledge of manufacturing/ furniture assembly techniques

Desirable:

Experience in bespoke/specialist joinery

Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, including Illustrator and Photoshop
