Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an independent, family-owned Insurance broker in Gloucester with impressive long-term growth plans, who are keen to expand their team with the appointment of an ambitious Commercial Account Handler.

The business has grown significantly over the last few years through recruitment, acquisitions of other companies and most importantly due to more and more businesses and individuals entrusting them with their insurance requirements because of the level of service and expertise they offer.

They now employ over 25 people in their team of friendly and very knowledgeable insurance brokers in Gloucester. They invest heavily in the training and development of their team and encourage them to study for the Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications. Despite the rapid growth of the business and the changes in the way insurance is transacted, the ethos of the business continues to be the same as it was when it was established.

The successful candidate will be required to assist in providing a comprehensive insurance service to existing and potential new customers.

You will be responsible for looking after a small book of existing business. The main focus will be working on a mixed book of SME to mid-market risks dealing with a general mix of combined, tradesman, Landlords and small PI cases paying from £200 to £2,500 in premium, handling renewals, MTAs, claims and general advice as well as a bit of incoming new business,  reporting to the Senior Account Handler here.

You will be required to assist clients when they have questions about or need to make amendments to their cover, or when they need to make a claim and to maintain appropriate, regular contact with existing customers to ensure their insurance requirements continue to be met.

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have at least 1-2 years commercial insurance broking experience gained in a broking role, handling a range of commercial risks. You will also need to be educated to GCSEs or equivalent, supported with a minimum of 5 grades C or above including English and Mathematics. Those who currently hold the Cert CII qualification and are prepared to undertake the Dip CII studies are also highly sought after. Experience of using Acturis would also be a bonus!

On offer is a starting salary of £25-30,000 depending on experience and they are based in modern open-planned offices with plenty of parking available! They also offer flexitime with hybrid working available, being in the office for a 2/3 days a week, at least to start with, and eligibility to join the company pension scheme and other benefits upon successful completion of six-month probation period.

Standard office hours are Monday to Friday – 9.00am to 5pm
