Key Responsibilities This is a unique opportunity to join the shift support team in the Energy Control Centre and be responsible for the real time control and integrity of Cadent’s Gas Distribution Systems, ensuring safety and security are maintained for the five different cadent gas networks.  The role provides significant scope for personal/career development, with the requirement to undertake a specific, structured training package based on previous control room/operational experience.

As a Shift Control Engineer, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the gas transportation network, authorise commencement of site works and amend operating strategies and monitor equipment and plant alarms.

Your keen eye for detail and organisation skills will play a key park in maintaining records, taking actions and keeping accurate data in compliance with ISO 9001 and other key interfaces. Managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the safe operation of the gas network.

This is a shift working role, following a 24/7 rotational shift pattern. Two shift patterns apply:

24/7 shift rota working Morning/Afternoon and Night shifts attracting 26% shift allowance.
Alternating shift pattern working Morning/Afternoon shifts Monday – Friday attracts 13.5% shift allowance. (Potentially utilised during periods of training) Successful candidates will follow the 24/7 shift working pattern following a short induction period. Periodically at reasonable notice periods moves to the Morning/Afternoon rotation may be requested to support the department’s operational requirements/training plans. 

Skills and Experience
HNC in STEM subject (With willingness to work towards essential if not attained)
CEng or IEng qualified or working towards professional qualification (With willingness to work towards essential if not attained)
Control Room/Operational experience
Excellent monitoring and evaluation skills with a keen eye for detail, and be accurate and efficient at data capture
Solid decision-making skills and the ability to work independently with the capability to be a team player and support colleagues when and where required
Able to work rotational 24/7 shift pattern, with flexibility essential at reasonable notice periods Ability to multi task in fast paced working environment. With ability to manage time  to contribute and ensure ECC delivery against its key strategic objectives

You will also be required to undertake a National Security Vetting Check as part of the onboarding process
