About us
UCL Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the top research and teaching departments in the UK and has world-class standing. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and has an extensive research portfolio across a wealth of areas, from molecular scale to complex systems.
About the role
This position is within the Computer-aided Materials Discovery Laboratory led by Dr Peyman Z. Moghadam. The project aims at computational designing CO2 capture systems based on solid-adsorption separation.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
The major role of the post holder will design an adsorption-based process/system for CO2 capture in the presence of humidity.
Understand the structure-property relationship of the MOF materials and different processes e.g. TSA vs. VSA.
The position will be based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL East and the Bloomsbury campus of UCL and involve close collaboration with Industry. The post is funded by the Innovate UK.
This is a fixed-term role until 31 March 2025. Salary is at grade 7 between spine points 30-36; £42,099-£49,263 per annum inclusivve of London Allowance.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £37,332 -£39,980 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
About you
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials or Chemistry, experience of working in a research environment and experience of adsorption process modelling in COMSOL or gPROMS.
