Job Title: Estimator - Main Contracting
Location: Kent, UK
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a background in main contracting to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, providing accurate and timely estimates that enable us to deliver exceptional results within budgetary constraints.
Responsibilities:
* Utilize industry knowledge and expertise to accurately estimate costs for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
* Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities for value engineering.
* Prepare detailed and competitive tender submissions, ensuring alignment with client expectations, project objectives, and company standards.
* Conduct thorough and systematic quantity take-offs to ensure accurate cost estimates.
* Keep abreast of market trends, material costs, and labor rates to inform pricing decisions and maintain competitiveness.
* Participate in bid review meetings and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators as needed.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
* Proven track record as an Estimator within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
* Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Bluebeam, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) preferred but not required.
* Knowledge of local building regulations and codes in Kent and surrounding areas
