Job Description

A practice wide BIM manager role within a long-established MEP consultancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the standards within our BIM teams and ensuring that modelling standards and project standards are delivered to the highest level.

The candidate should have been working in the role of a BIM manager for at least 2 years.

The candidate will require excellent interpersonal and technical skills.

The candidate should be proficient in all of the systems and software required for the role such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Magicad.

The candidate should have in depth knowledge and experience of the development and creation how to create templates, and manage 3D models, 2D drawings, and associated data.

Experience in inputting into BIM Execution plans and ensuring that models are delivered to the project quality standards in terms of accuracy and detail in line with agreed RIBA work stages.

The following duties will be associated with the role:

Co-ordinate the REVIT technicians across the practice to ensure that common practices, standards and policies are adopted.

Interface with the design team to establish project guidelines, standards and protocols.

Responsible for the creation and monitoring of the BIM models and the MEP content and ensuring that they are aligned with the practice and project standards. The key aspects will be accuracy of modelling, ensuring drawn systems are workable and maintainable, clash detection and resolution.

Integrate other engineering systems such as schedules, specifications and calculation software into the modelling process.

Assist with marketing material relating to the BIM process in terms of visualisation, presentations and work with the marketing team to promote the process and outputs.

BIM Documentation: Create and maintain BIM documentation, including BIM execution plans, BIM protocols, BIM standards, and project-specific BIM workflows. Generate BIM reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate project status, progress, and issues to project stakeholders. Prepare as-built BIM models and data for handover to facility owners and operators.

Coordinate with the engineering team leaders to ensure that appropriate resource is allocated to meet project deadlines. Ensure that the project requirements are understood and implemented by the technicians within your team.

As part of this process, regular audits of BIM models shall be undertaken to ensure that the models are delivered the required level of accuracy and on time.

A key aspect will be to provide training and support to both the Technicians and Engineers within the practice to ensure that they are kept up to date with best practice and new innovations.

Develop and maintain BIM standards, templates, and libraries to ensure consistency and accuracy in BIM models and data. Monitor and enforce BIM standards and protocols throughout the project and practice.
