Toolmaker in Redditch - CV-Library

Established automotive manufacturing organisation seeks a highly skilled Toolmaker, looking to work for a well-established automotive manufacturing company based in Redditch. This company prides itself on supporting its engineers and encourages strong team work.

Offered as a permanent contract, reporting directly to Tool Room Manager, the role of Toolmaker requires you to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines (HAAS), maintain quality and safety standards, keeping records, maintaining equipment and supplies.

Toolmaker duties will include:

* CNC program / operate – HAAS Milling machines using Visi CAD/CAM

* CNC program / operate – Sodick Wire Eroder using Visi CAD/CAM (although this is not essential as training will be given)

* Plan machining by studying drawings

* Program Milling machines and Wire Eroder by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs

* Disassembly and reassembly of tools

* Tool splitting and regrinding

* Replacing component parts, dies, punches and springs

* Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards

* Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

* Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

Skills/Attributes required by Toolmaker:

* Previous experience within a similar role as Toolmaker within the automotive industry (essential)

* Understanding of ISO 14001/IATF16949 and its contribution to the business to help to achieve objectives

* Knowledge/experience of Visi software – desirable

* Proven efficiency with working practices

* Problem solving and tool improvement

* Must be able to work on own initiative

* Attention to detail

* Be organised and have the ability to prioritise and multi-task

* Be able to communicate effectively to own team and other departments

* Proven efficiency with working practices

Salary: £16.00 - £17.00 per hour based on experience
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 07:00-16:00 / Fridays 07:00 – 12:00 = 39 hours
Benefits: Pension (company pays 3% of the 8% expected contribution)
