Job Description

Theatre Practitioner - Full-Time - Fakenham - State-of-the-Art Private Vision Clinic - Up to £35,000

Health Recruit Network are supporting one of their private vision clinics in Fakenham in search of an experienced Theatre Practitioner to join them on a full time basis. They are a pioneering independent provider of NHS ophthalmic care in the community, dedicated to offering innovative fast-track cataract surgery outside of traditional hospital settings. Their team of expert consultant ophthalmologists prioritize patient care above all else.

With NHS waiting lists for cataract surgery on the rise, they provide patients with an alternative option, delivering life-changing surgery in as little as four weeks - taking pride in offering immediate care while supporting the NHS.

As a crucial member of our team, you'll play a hands-on role with diverse responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of our ophthalmic care services:

Scrub Assistant: You'll work alongside our surgical team, assisting during procedures to maintain a sterile environment and provide necessary instruments and equipment. Your attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team will be vital in ensuring safe and efficient surgeries.
Anaesthetic Assistant: You'll support our anaesthetists in administering anesthesia to patients undergoing cataract surgery and other procedures. Your role will involve preparing and monitoring anesthesia equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
Pre-operative Assessments: You'll conduct thorough assessments of patients scheduled for cataract treatment and other ophthalmic procedures. This includes reviewing medical histories, performing comprehensive eye examinations, and assessing patients' overall health to ensure they are fit for surgery.
Patient Preparation: You'll play a crucial role in preparing patients for their cataract treatment, ensuring they understand the procedure and addressing any concerns they may have. This involves explaining pre-operative instructions, obtaining consent, and ensuring patients are comfortable and informed before entering the operating room.
Pre-screening Diagnostic Duties: You'll perform a range of diagnostic tests and procedures to assess patients' eye health and suitability for surgery. This may include measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and conducting imaging tests such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) or biometry to determine the appropriate lens power for cataract surgery.
Discharge Planning and After-care: Following surgery, you'll provide patients with post-operative care instructions, including medications, wound care, and activity restrictions. You'll ensure patients understand how to manage any post-operative symptoms and when to seek further medical attention if needed. Your compassionate approach will help reassure patients as they transition back to their daily lives.
Candidates for this role must be NMC registered with previous experience in theatre or scrub environments, demonstrating competency in surgical assistance and patient care.
Benefits:

An industry-leading salary that reflects your skills and contributions
No night shifts or on-call duties, allowing for a healthy work-life balance
Access to a state-of-the-art, modern working environment equipped with the latest technology and resources
29 days of annual leave per year to recharge and spend time with loved ones
