About the Company Talent84 is delighted to be representing our client, a highly successful engineering organisation specialising in large-scale, complex electromechanical products with a global customer base, in their search for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
About the Role Due to continued growth and contract wins, my client is seeking to add to their existing superb design/engineering division in the appointment of a Mechanical Design Engineer. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be tasked with leveraging their technical expertise and experience to contribute to the development of products, technology, capability, and reliability across their full product range.
Main Responsibilities Working within a multi-discipline engineering team to meet the project requirements
Developing designs from a provided concepts through to manufacturing detail, including manufacturing/assembly drawings, specifications of proprietary components, supporting calculations and reporting.
Participating in internal and external design reviews, providing technical input throughput the development of a product/solution.
Supporting verification of fellow engineers designs.
Developing the testing requirements for both prototype and product manufacturing.
Supporting build, commissioning, and trials of new products.
Supporting delivery of customer training, plus generation of operating and maintenance instructions.
Analysing problems and coming up with solutions.
Working within the budget to deliver safe, effective products, on-time and to specification.
Maintaining a knowledge of current technical trends to assist in the development of current and future products.
Working cross functionally (Commercial, Sales, Projects teams) within the business to improve efficiency and deliver effective products.
About you To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained as a Mechanical Design Engineer working in a fabrication with multidisciplinary inputs setting. You will also be degree qualified (2:1 and above).
Key selection criteria Demonstrable experience gained as a Design Engineer
Experience of modern engineering design tools (2D + 3D CAD, Analysis, etc)
Excellent working knowledge of MS office applications including Excel and Word
Basic knowledge of hydraulic and control systems with experience of working as part of an engineering team
Experience of working within a design team, able to share workload and engage with subject matter experts of different disciplines to work cohesively effectively to ensure robust product solutions.
Acts with honesty/integrity to build trust, respect, and commitment in the workplace.
Ability to investigate and interpret data, issues, and situations, to make sound decisions.
Self-motivated, proactive and results driven approach to work.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal awareness and considers the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of others.

Ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining high quality.
