Job Description

Our innovative, market leading and employee focused client is looking for a HSE Officer to join their current team.
The Health, Safety and Environment Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety within the organisation.
Position in the Organisation
The Health, Safety and Environment Officer will report to the Head of Operations. This position will collaborate closely with colleagues, department managers, and employees across all levels of the organisation to develop and maintain the company's health, safety and environmental requirements and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include various tasks related to Health, Safety and the Environment, such as policies and procedures, audits, investigations into incidents, near misses and hazards and coordination of training. By executing these key responsibilities effectively, the HSE Officer is expected to contribute significantly to the success of Copper Alloys' Health, Safety and Environmental operations and overall organisational goals.
HSE Officer tasks and duties:
* Policies, Procedures and Guidance: Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with government and standards regulations ensuring strict adherence throughout the business and manage a robust review mechanism.
* Facilities and Equipment: Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
* Training: Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness and compliance with safety protocols. Conduct Health and Safety inductions for new starters.
* Incidents, Near Misses and Hazards: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures to minimise future occurrences.
* Document Management: Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate reporting to regulatory agencies.
* Emergency Plans and Procedures: Collaborate with teams/management to develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuation drills and crisis management protocols.
* Internal/External Auditing: Participate in internal and external audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and recommend corrective actions as needed.
* Compliance and Reporting: Liaise with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders on matters related to health, safety, and environmental compliance and reporting.
* Ongoing Support: Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to health, safety, and environmental management and incorporate relevant updates into organisational policies and procedures.
Requirements for the position:
* At least 3 years in a similar role within the manufacturing industry is preferred.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with employees, managers and external contacts.
* Strong knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent organisational skills are crucial for managing multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records, and prioritising workload efficiently.
* Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite would be an advantage.

This will initially be measured by your processes and then your results. You will be expected to have a proactive approach to your performance and should be ready and willing to learn new skills at work and outside of work.
