Job Description

Due to a continued growth we are recruiting a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our leading client based in Bedford on a permanent basis. Successful candidates will be time served to ensure that jobs are manufactured in accordance with supplied technical drawings and specifications.

Successful candidates will be part of multi-skilled team and will be required to perform a range of tasks in the build, assembly, test, and development of high precision special purpose machinery.

This role will also require you to visit customer sites around the globe for machine installation, upgrades, and service support – prolonged trips for up to 6 weeks may be required - Additional rates will apply.

As you will be required to travel a full UK driving license and Passport are a must to be considered for this role.

The following specialist skills would be highly advantageous

· Manual machining experience

· In depth knowledge of Hydraulic/ Pneumatic Systems.

· Experience in Hand Scraping to micron tolerance

· Understanding of machine calibration methods and adjustments ( Laser alignment, Talyvels)

Hours - Monday - Friday 0745AM - 4PM

Role Description

* Deliver new machine build and R&D projects in line with the schedule.

* Liaise effectively with project teams on a technical level.

* When at customer sites, complete regular site reports/visit reports, timesheets and other documentation as required.

* Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.

* Work with internal staff to develop practical ways to continuously improve the services provided for our customers.

* Assist with commissioning ultra-precision machine tools.

* Assist with set-up and error correction of ultra-precision machine tools.

* Understand, and work at all times in line with Company Value and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.

* Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.

Candidate Skills

* Time-served in a mechanical discipline - NVQ/ City and Guilds/ HNC/ HND

* Experience in Assembly fitting – experience with machine tools is highly advantageous

* Confident reading engineering drawings

* Strong knowledge of Hydraulics / pneumatics

* Happy to travel as required – possibly away for 6 weeks at a time

* Full UK Driving License and Passport
