Astute's Power team is partnering with a global Oil & Gas company who own and operate a large crude oil refinery in Northeast Lincolnshire.

We are actively looking for a degree qualified Automation / Advanced Process Control Engineer to join the team, you'll be a key player in their net-zero emissions strategy in which are part of the "Zero Carbon Humber" cluster zone.

As an APC Engineer located at the Immingham Refinery, you'll be involved in a variety of engineering activities within the industrial country systems team, such as the design, implementation, maintenance & continuous improvement of the complex control systems including DCS & Automation equipment.

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Advanced Process Control Engineer you will be:
Identifying opportunities to improve the refineries throughout, yield & energy use by using & optimising the Advanced Process Control systems.
Lead feasibility studies for small projects.
Prepare Management of Chance (MOC) documentation.
Providing trouble shooting & monitoring on basic controller loop performing and supporting Instrumentation Technicians with equipment issues.
Design user friendly documentation & training material.
Manage the APC's effectiveness through KPI monitoring.
Act as site subject matter expert across the refinery and wider plant.

Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering
Ideally chartered status
Knowledge of APC tools such as AspenTech DMC, Honeywell RMPC or similar
Expert knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Familiar with OPC DA/UA or Osisoft PI
Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH or Health & Safety Qualification

Personal skills
The Advanced Process Control Engineer role would suit someone who has:
At least five years working in a Refinery or similar process sector
Familiar with networking, cybersecurity and operating system administration
Able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
Self-motivated
Organised
