Job Title: Planning Manager - Rail

Situation:

Our client is looking for an experienced Planning Manager to manage a portfolio of change projects taking place across the business, with a large proportion of these projects being related to the Transpennine Route Upgrade.

The Portfolio Planning Manager holds a critical leadership role within the team; as such, your primary responsibility is to lead and oversee all scheduling activities for projects and programmes within the directorate's diverse enhancements portfolio.

With the assistance of your team, you will be responsible for collating, understanding, summarising and scheduling the details of hundreds of P6 plans, in order to accurately articulate the changes to the various operators in the region, such as Network Rail and Northern Trains. Line management will also play a crucial part in this role.

Role & Responsibilities:

Ensure that the project teams (Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and Programme Managers) are adhering to agreed-upon schedules.
Offer support and guidance in schedule remodelling or re-planning when necessary.
Responsible leadership and line management duties for the PMO Planner.
Engaging and inspiring team members, ensuring accountability for actions and business performance.
Continuous development and role modelling of leadership skills and company values.

Location: Manchester, or York (hybrid and flexible hours) 

£50,000 - £55,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential: Experience in using P6 Primavera software and developing and adhering to Schedule Maintenance Strategy
Essential: Deep and broad knowledge of programme/project management in the context of complex business change projects.
Essential: Experience in understanding and simplifying large amounts of project data for stakeholders
Essential: Degree-qualified or suitable professional experience.
Desirable: Experience working within the rail/transportation sector 
Desirable: Hold a recognised Project Management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, MSP).
Relevant job titles: Planning Manager, Planning Lead, Principal Planner, Senior Planner, PMO Manager, PMO Lead, Programme Manager, Project Manager.
