Private Hospital in Somerset is offering opportunities for Theatre Nurse Practitioners/ODPs with Surgical Assistant 1 to join our team. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide and maintain the highest possible standard of clinical care for patients.
• Ensure accurate completion of all documentation and give/receive patient-centered handovers.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection prevention and control (IPC) within the operating department, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
• Assist in cleaning theatre and equipment between patients and at the end of theatre sessions.
• Contribute to the efficient running of theatre lists by assisting with cleaning and turnaround of theatre and equipment between patients.
• Work as part of the scrub team, rotating tasks such as scrubbing and assisting for procedures.
• Identify personal objectives, reflect on progress, and set a personal development plan annually.
• Collaborate with Lead Nurse to address training and development needs.
• Keep practice updated using appropriate clinical supervision models.
• Expand practice in line with NMC and HCPC guidelines and protocols.
• Adhere to NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct, including maintaining registration.
• Participate in WHO surgical checks including briefing and debriefing at the beginning and end of theatre lists.
• Engage in clinical governance, escalate concerns, and assist with investigations as requested.
• Develop clinical knowledge and professional skills through relevant training.
• Maintain patient notes and documents according to guidelines, ensuring legibility and accuracy.
• Foster good communication between healthcare professionals and promote safe working practices.
• Manage team and theatre list, ensuring tasks are rotated and breaks allocated appropriately.
• Escalate staff concerns to Theatre Lead or Deputy as necessary.
• Ensure efficient and safe running of theatre lists.
• Take measures to ensure patient safety and promptly report accidents/incidents.
• Safeguard patient property and valuables in line with agreed procedures.
• Assist in carrying out audits as required.
• Complete Statutory and Mandatory training.
• Adhere to hospital policies and department SOPs.

Qualifications, Previous Knowledge, and Experience:
• NMC registered Nurse or HCPC registered ODP qualification.
• English language proficiency to IELTS 7.0.
• Experience in a similar role.
• RN/RGN/ODP equivalent with ASP Part 1.
• Demonstrable record of CPD.
• Knowledge of current issues in professional practice.
• Effective influencing skills.
• Proactive approach to change and quality improvement.
• Ability to prioritize workload and instruct/direct others.
• Calm, caring, and empathic attitude towards patients, relatives, and colleagues.
• Effective communication skills at all levels.
• Willingness to participate in flexible working.
• Clean and tidy appearance, adhering to uniform policy.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills through practical experience.
