Role: Water Resources Analyst
Location: Hybrid, Barnsley (S75 1JN)
Salary: circa £34,500 depending on experience
Role Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Ancala Water Services is a private utilities company providing clean and wastewater services to over 1,000 Ministry of Defence establishments across England and Wales. Our aim is to revolutionise the operation of the water services industry, but we need top talent to help us achieve this.
Our Asset Management Team is responsible for the management of water and wastewater assets across the MoD estate. Joining the team as the Water Resources Analyst, youll play a key part in ensuring the company maintains the highest standards possible by developing data systems and performance reporting tools used to co-ordinate investment proactive and reactive maintenance activities for the management of water that is abstracted and water that is imported from statutory water companies. Day to day you will analyse abstraction performance against licence limits and requirements, acting on this data, feedback and performance reports. Youll work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders across the business to improve data accuracy and maintain a consistent and innovative suite of reporting dashboards appropriate to specific asset needs (currently via Microsoft Power BI). The post holder will be responsible for delivering reports and intervention plans to manage all water resources and achieve regulatory compliance with the abstraction licensing requirements defined by the Regulators, Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales.
Role Responsibilities: Daily analysis of compliance with abstraction licences; followed by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to agree and deliver action if required.
Maintenance of the Microsoft Power BI reporting tools, in addition to the development of other data systems and performance reporting tools.
Produce and review reports to a high standard of accuracy to enable informed decision making and communicate performance to internal stakeholders, customers and our Regulators.
Project sponsorship and the development of capital investment projects.
Development and refinement of planned and reactive maintenance strategies.
Working independently, across different teams and across a wide variety of stakeholders.
Support incident investigation and contingency planning regarding water resources.
Support catchment assessments and management.

What Youll Bring: Understanding of abstraction regulations, management of water resources and demand management.
Advanced IT skills with the ability to produce, export, analyse and interpret complex data sets and experience of asset management systems.
Extensive experience of work prioritisation and the ability to achieve key deliverables first, whilst managing multiple stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable information to be shared effectively and be easily understood.
Commercial awareness and understanding of the commercial impact and cost to the business when making decisions.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of creating and developing reports in Microsoft PowerBI. They will have the ability to demonstrate their commercial acumen, whilst also having an understanding of project management principles. They will be a dependable colleague who enjoys exposure to different work streams and someone who is a self-starter, striving to identify and implement improvements where applicable. Lastly, candidates who have experience of working with the MoD, EA or NRW will be highly desirable, along with those who understand water and wastewater regulatory frameworks and asset management databases.
About you:
Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must: Meet the security vetting requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full-time resident of the UK for the past 5 years and an enhanced DBS Check.
You must have a valid driving licence. There may also be overnight stays but youll know about these well in advance.
