Job Description

Marks Consulting Partners are currently looking for a Housing Options Officer to work with one of our Local Authority clients in Sussex. The client is very flexible when it comes to working arrangement and remote working is a possibility.

What the job will be doing

* You will be delivering all aspects of the Councils statutory homelessness duties, from processing homeless applications, providing advice, handling temporary accommodation placements, to discharging housing duty.

* Implement all aspects of the Council’s statutory homelessness duties including processing homeless applications made under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and discharging any subsequent duties.

* Provide comprehensive housing advice to the public to prevent homelessness where possible, enable customers to make informed decisions based on an understanding of the options available to them and to maximise the use of good quality housing across all tenures.

What you will need

* At least 5 years’ experience working within busy local authority housing options field.

* The ability to drive and have a reliable vehicle available to use for work purposes with business insurance.

* Detailed and extensive knowledge of the current legislation and duties owed to persons by the Council under Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Localism Act 2011 and its application.
