Our growing Infrastructure and Energy (IE) team is looking for an experienced Lawyer (4+ PQE) to join our team in Leeds to advise public and private sector clients on a variety of energy and transport projects.
In this role, you will work on commercial contracts relating to energy infrastructure and transport and advise on the full spectrum of issues relating to energy and transport sector mandates, acting for a broad range of companies, developers, PE funds and Financial Institutions.

Job description: THE TEAM
Our IE practice is known for its quality and breadth of expertise. As one of the most established multi-disciplinary teams of any law firm, we give clients the confidence they need to succeed.
Our first-class team, which is consistently ranked in the top tier in the directories, provides innovative, timely and commercial advice from inception all the way through the lifetime of our clients' projects in markets as diverse as waste, large scale outsourcing, renewable energy, transport, and healthcare, in the UK and all over the world.
We act for a range of developers, sponsors, and procuring authorities, and we have advised funders, as well as public and private sector clients, on some of the most challenging assignments in the market in recent years.
In the energy space, our work includes several pathfinder projects such as Gas to the West, a pipeline bringing gas from Northern Ireland to the Irish Republic, VW's alliance with Ford Motor Company (one of the largest global industrial alliances), and Nissan's microgrid project as well as work across renewables (wind, solar, bio- energy waste), hydrogen, CCUS, gas to grid, district hearing, CHP, electric vehicles, battery projects and energy and utilities regulation.
AG's transport team is recognised as one of the most experienced in the sector with technical expertise across a range of national and international projects including advising Government on all passenger services contracts and HS2 and the owners of the Azuma fleet of trains. We specifically focus on rail, urban transit, ports, freight and logistics and transport hubs.

Required profile: WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE:
With support from the team, you will take responsibility for drafting and negotiating commercial documents, managing transaction processes and potentially joint-venture and corporate documents in the context principally of energy and transport
Strongly encouraged to take responsibility for business development both engaging directly with client contacts at networking events and by providing training.
Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.
AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE: Be flexible and agile and have enthusiasm for growing and developing your knowledge and experience of challenging work in the dynamic and high profile sectors of energy and transport or infrastructure more widely.
The ability to take a key role supporting complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed as well as within the IE team.
The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally).
Strong commercial awareness but most importantly a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in infrastructure, energy and transport.
High standard of client care.
The enthusiasm to market to clients.
Knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice.
