Position: Director of Resources/ Company Secretary
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: £85,000
Duration: Permanent

The last 2 years have been a challenging time for EPIC, with a downgrade to G3 in 2022. Through the hard work and commitment of all in the organisation and with the support of the Board, they have delivered their Governance Recovery and Improvement Plan and were regraded to compliant G2 in May 2023. Their continued focus remains on ensuring that their tenants receive excellent services alongside the maintenance of their properties to provide decent homes that are safe and warm.

This is a new role for the organisation and the successful applicant has the opportunity to build on the great work to-date as well as continuing to lead and manage a strong future for EPIC, its tenants, staff, and Board. Having just launched a refreshed Corporate Plan for the period 2024 to 2027, the direction is clear – community, connecting, and collaboration. A vision that is clear about empowering tenants with the resources and support they need to thrive, while also making a positive impact on the wider community.

You will take the lead on a number of critical business functions, including Finance, Risk, IT, People, Change, Governance and Compliance to ensure the delivery of effective high-quality services aligned to the organisation’s business strategy and objectives.

There is clarity on the vision and direction of EPIC - they are now building the capacity & capability within the business to deliver on this into the future. It will be a challenging and rewarding experience for those with the required skills, tenacity, and passion.

Who would you be working with?

EPIC stands for Empowering People Inspiring Communities. They currently own just over 1,400 homes and work with three local authorities together with a range of partners to ensure their tenants homes meet the needs of local people in Stoke on Trent, Newcastle under Lyme, and Staffordshire Moorlands. They have strong values and a clear mission to ensure that every home is safe and that the needs of the tenants are reflected in the services provided.

What would be on your to-do list?

* Support the Chief Executive Officer to deliver EPIC’s corporate strategies

* Be a corporate leader across the organisation, role modelling organisational values

* Be the lead director for EPIC’s Audit & Risk Assurance Committee

* Act as Company Secretary, ensuring that EPIC complies with financial and legal requirements, as well as maintaining high standards of corporate governance

* Spearhead business transformation and improvement to ensure EPIC can operate and respond as needed with pace, efficiency and agility

* Lead, facilitate and ensure the implementation of the finance strategy

* Ensure effective delivery of governance and company secretarial services

* Ensure the effective design and delivery of IT and People strategies
