Despatch Manager NIGHT SHIFT

Shift Pattern: 12hr Shift, 6pm-6am, 4 on 4 off

The role

Over recent months as the business has continued to grow, we have been reassessing our internal structure to ensure we have all the right people in place to support our people and the growing business needs. As part of this review Geary’s Bakeries is currently looking to recruit a Despatch Shift Manager, who will be responsible for leading a team to ensure all our orders leave on time and improve/ maintain good customer satisfaction by meeting our customer service level agreements.

We require somebody who is experienced working within a busy warehouse. The person who fulfils this role will have experience in a similar role and will be used to coordinating with other departments maintaining strong relationships both internally and externally. You will be able to deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet all our despatch requirements taking into consideration cost, customer service levels and stock rotation.

The main responsibilities include:

* Day-to-day management of dispatch team.

* Understand and manage risks to minimise impact on customer deliveries.

* Take inventory to ascertain the stock balances, damages, and expiries.

* Manage all outbound shipping documents and complete ASN transactions.

* Take follow up actions in relation to customer shortages, recording and logging information to be shared with Supply Chain, Technical and Operations Teams.

* Provide oversight for carrier scheduling, including managing any necessary updates to ensure all our products are delivered on time and in full.

* Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.

* Establish, monitor, and implement procedures for evaluating performance of employees.

* Monitor and report dispatch department performance statistics.

* Ensure that department personnel adhere to all company policies concerning ethics, legal compliance, safety, customer service and environmental protection standards.

* Coordinate any necessary disciplinary action with the company’s human resources department.

* Ensure that all equipment is properly always maintained and operational, including workstation computers, printers, telephones, and mobile communications devices.

* Perform other duties as assigned by management.

About You

What we’re looking for:

* 3 years + experience in a similar role – Essential.

* Previous experience of managing a dispatch team ideally in a food manufacturing environment – Desirable

* Good understanding of supply chain processes – Essential.

* Experience of working with third party hauliers – Essential.

* Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including Excel – Advantageous.

* Knowledge and experience of using Sage 200, Warehouse Management systems or similar - Advantageous.

* Knowledge of lean techniques - Advantageous.
