At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operator at our Ashchurch site.

The role
As a RPAS Operator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. We are creating a new capability, providing remotely piloted aircrafts with mission durations measured in days, not hours. This new and exciting role will be part of a team delivering a service to our customers providing this unique capability wherever they need it, globally.

Day-to-day, you'll fly this unique platform and deliver world-class unmanned capabilities around the UK and beyond. Working within the team you will also be a key part of the planning activities working closely with our civil, military and government customers.

Ensuring the safe conduct of flight operations and being an ambassador for flight safety at all times
Conducting simulation flights in order to train and maintain currency
Communicating with Air Traffic Control and other aircrafts for deconfliction when required * Remotely piloting the system and navigating safely using the Ground Control Station
Remaining familiar with all system documentation, operational procedures, local flying orders and providing detailed event logging in accordance with all necessary regulationsThe successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including night and weekend shifts, as required.

This role is full time and is based on site at Ashchurch. You must be able to travel to the United States for a period of one month to complete necessary training.

Essential experience of the RPAS Operator

Aviation or aerospace technical qualifications, including current or previous flight crew, UAS, UAV, RPAS or engineering licenses
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
Ability to make and implement complex technical risk-based decisions under pressure
Well organised, good team player with a problem-solving approach
Knowledge and experience of mission management system
High level of situational awarenessQualifications for the of the RPAS Operator

Level 3 or higher qualifications in aviation or aerospace, or comparable experience
Aviation experience as flight crew or engineer, either military or civil
Hold a current General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) or A2 CofC
Familiar with and understanding of CAA and or MAA regulations for Unmanned systems, including but not limited to CAP722 and RA1600
Understanding of MET and Airspace
Competent in Maths and English and working knowledge of PhysicsSecurity Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK or US national who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
