WHAT TO EXPECT

We are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Lead HV Safety System Engineer for JLR’s integrated High Voltage Battery Charging control system. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining functional safety solutions through best-practice engineering.

Your mission? To work closely with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, including ISO26262. As part of the Functional Safety and Control Design Chapter, you will develop the company’s strategy for processes, components and systems for the control system specialism.

This is a highly visible and impactful role, offering the opportunity to lead our technical teams in the development of our new generation of electric vehicles.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Design and delivery of Charging/Battery Management ECU Part4 Technical Safety Concepts, Hardware and Software safety requirements and their implementation
Collaborate with team members in supporting the delivery of the overall safety plan
Provide technical mentorship for functional safety design engineers
Contribute to the development of capable, efficient, standardised and Functional Safety processes
Audit of safety products from internal and external elements
Liaise with key suppliers, particularly as “Matched-pair” for software
Manage technical risks and mitigation plans
Ensure correctness and peer review of FuSa analysis, Architecture, Requirements, V&V
Development of the verification/validation strategy for the item 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential – 

Successfully delivered technical safety concepts from inception to production in a complex control system product
An individual who is results-driven, demonstrates tenacity, drive and perseverance, with the ability to deliver in a complex, highly demanding environment
Experience applying ISO 26262 Parts 3, 4, 5 and 6. 
Equivalent industry experience welcome (for example IEC 61508)
Audit and assessing supplier functional safety work products
Using industry-standard system, safety analysis, requirement management tools such as Medini, ISO Graph Reliability Workbench, MSOSA, TRM, DOORS
HV Energy Storage Systems and Power Electronics experience
