Job Description

We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join on of the UK`s most exciting technology companies based in Oxfordshire. The job requires a self-motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer who has hands-on mechanical design experience in a hi-tech capital systems environment, supplying high-value/low volume goods to a world-wide market. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved in the design of state-of-the-art machinery and instrumentation as well as supporting the R&D team.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

Mechanical design for all aspects of the company’s complex high-tech mechanical systems and special purpose machinery as well as the R&D team.
Design of high precision machined components, sheet metal enclosures and complex assemblies which involve optics, lasers, cameras and automation.
The role covers every aspect from concept design through to the creation of models, use of simulation tools, drawings and bills of materials, investigating and defining answers to design problems via NCRs and ECRs.
Estimate timescales and identify critical points for input to project plans.
Ability to work in a busy environment, often on multiple projects simultaneously and manage your own workload.   
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:

Good degree or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant Science/Engineering subject will be highly desirable.
A minimum of 5 years of recent and relevant industrial experience in mechanical design -preferably in a high-tech company.
Experience of using 3D CAD modelling and drawing software (AutoCAD Inventor and Vault would be an advantage)
Experience of MRP systems and BoM maintenance
Experience and understanding of aspects of structural analysis, materials, treatments, finishes will be an advantage.
Comfortable in a highly technical environment with a highly qualified and experienced staff.
Should enjoy working in an SME organisation where he/she has a considerable level of independence and responsibility -a “can do” attitude is essential!
Ability to work to strict deadlines either individually or as part of a team.
Good communication skills.
