Manual Machinist in Telford - CV-Library

Shawthorpe are working alongside this great engineering company based in Telford that are expanding! Now need to add to the team!

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist, experience within Milling and Turning, Producing mainly mild steel, aluminium & stainless steel (occasionally other metals and plastics) to drawings and samples in single and small quantities.

Job Purpose

You will be providing an integral part of keeping the flow of work through the business by producing work in a timely manner alongside providing high quality so the customers machines are running smoothly

Duties and Responsibilities

- Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Read and interpret drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations
- Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and angles
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues

- Be able to work independently

Key Skills / Ability / Experience

- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles
- Experience with manual machining - Understand milling and turning is required
- Ability to work with various tooling, power tools, and hand tools
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members

Working Hours

Permanent Full Time – 37.5 hours per week

Either 08.00 – 16.00 or 07.00 – 15.00 Monday to Friday Flexible
