Job Title: Renewable Energy Policy Advisor

Location: Greater Belfast Area, BT3.

Duration: Permanent. Full time.

Salary: circa £32,000- £37000 per annum, plus an on target annual bonus of 6-9%

Hours: 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and between 8.30am and 4.30pm on Friday.

On behalf of our client, a leading Northern Ireland organisation, we have an exciting new opportunity for an individual to join their Development team and support the organisation’s progression to ret zero and renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency interventions and hybrid heat pump workstreams.

Working in collaboration with partner organisations and reporting to the Energy Transition Manager, the post holder will primarily be involved in conducting research on renewable energy policy developments and briefing – in writing and verbally - senior managers and directors to inform internal decision making.

The role will also involve monitoring net-zero policy developments and relevant NI Assembly activity, supporting the progression of research projects, responding to government consultations, engaging with external stakeholders, advancing demonstration projects & trials, exploring new green growth opportunities, and supporting the development & delivery of network decarbonisation strategy.

Duties include:

1. Engaging with, and challenging, operational and strategic energy transition colleagues and provide research driven and analytical informed perspectives on the issues, challenges, and opportunities relevant to advancing renewable energy goals

2. Monitor renewable energy related public policy developments in Northern Ireland, Ireland, the UK and across Europe to develop insights that empower the business to act decisively in a rapidly changing industry.

3. Support the delivery of renewable energy workstreams – including biomethane, green hydrogen and hybrid heat pump related projects. This will include developing the initial research base for proposed workstreams and then supporting project planning and implementation.

4. Following the completion of workstreams, support the sharing of results to industry, policy and other targeted stakeholder audiences.

5. Regular participation in multidisciplinary collaborative forums, featuring internal and external partners to progress the successful delivery of renewable energy workstreams including joint academic/industry research projects.

6. Contribute to the commercial decision making: for example, supporting new renewable energy business development concepts, performing market research to support proposal development.

You will need:

* Educated to degree level.

* At least one year’s experience working in a government policy/public affairs environment.

* Strong qualitative & analytical skills, along with the ability to communicate complex analysis.

* Demonstratable experience delivering succinct, structured, oral and written briefings.

* Ability to work under own initiative.

* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Good analytical skills.
