Development Underwriter in London - Compass Recruitment Ltd

Our clientsare establishing a new Northern Hub and have anunderwriting vacancy and are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years underwriting experience (commercial insurance, property/casualty) who will work from home based in either Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Our clientsare a successful MGA with 'A' rated capacity providers. They provide property, casualty, package and construction covers to a wide range of SME UK businesses via a panel of regional and national brokers. They also have a HNW division.
Their main underwriting hub is in London where they have New and Existing business underwriting teams. There are 5 underwriting levels based on seniority. There is a 'Head Office' teamthat take underwriting referrals, help develop products, carry out technical training and help ensure profitable returns to their capacity providers. There is also a Broker development teamwho manage the broker relationships.
It is very much a growth culture and they have recently signed up to some of the national broker platforms, so get shown a large volume of risks.
The business development manager for the Northoperates from Scotland and her patch includes Northern Ireland. She isnow looking for a development underwriterto oversee the renewal book; hold on site broker 'renewal clinics'; and discuss any larger or more complex cases. Ideally she would like a broker facing underwriter who is comfortable growing with the role which has the potential to become more managerial and supervise others. It really is a fluid opportunity, the team will grow and roles will evolve depending on what the brokers want and what works for everyone on the team.
