Job Description

A global high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their department with the appointment of a HSE Lead.
As HSE Lead, you will coordinate, support and advise the Group on all aspects with regard to Health and Safety & Environment. To establish, manage and monitor Group ESG Strategy, as well as standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with the Health and Safety & Environment within the companyin the UK are adhered to. Understand health, safety and environmental issues/opportunities and clearly communicate solutions to a broad stakeholder base, educate and coach employees to change their methods and beliefs regarding health and safety.Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health. To support the Group to achieve and maintain the ISO14001 certification.
Working from their facility in Birmingham,the HSE Lead will be responsible for:
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments and actions for all work equipment and operations, ensure actions are completed, and utilise on-site trained personnel to carry out risk assessments.
Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
Establish and deliver a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
Advise on suitable PPE and give or obtain relevant training/instruction on use.
Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services.
Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
Provide regular reports to the Group HR Manager on relevant health and safety and environmental activities.
Lead the monthly HSE meetings and report on relevant health & safety matters. Liaise with suppliers i.e. Insurers, solicitors etc.
Provision of advice to managers/supervisors.
Review H&S investigations and provide guidance as necessary.
Experience in formulating, implementing and revising H&S policies and procedures
Monitor and review with relevant stakeholders company processes to ensure that they conform to total quality standards and that there is a process of continuous improvement.
FIRE SAFETY
Coordinating Accident reports ensuring all information is accurately recorded and appropriate investigations undertaken, including completion of PPS by relevant manager/team leader.
Ensure that policy statements/fire plans/fire risk assessments are produced and adhered to.
Ensure fire evacuation procedures are adhered to and develop action plans for issues that arise.
ENVIRONMENTAL
Establish, manage and monitor ESG Strategy for the Group
Be the catalyst for activity and commitment to environmental management.
Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce the risk of non-compliance.
Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programmes to deliver
Promote and coordinate the integration of environmental management and sustainability issues into policies, rules, products, services and operations. Manage and control the Companys recycling and waste management procedures.
Provide technical support on projects, and on building modifications that have environmental impacts and impacts
Implement necessary measures to meet ISO 14001 requirements and achieve objectives of Environmental Policy.
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Experience of at least 3 years required in a similar role and NEBOSH qualified or working towards certification and COSHH trained.
