This Software Engineer will assist in the development of next generation Radar Simulator product line.

This role involves day to day coding activities in the core of the applications, using predominantly C++ and occasionally other scripting languages and Matlab.

The Software Engineer will be a point of contact on RF matters and able discuss complex ideas and issues with customers along with providing RF and Mathematical expertise to the software design and development process.

Occasional worldwide travel to customer sites is possible.

Responsibilities:

Take ownership of maths-oriented tasks within the system.
Be a point of contact for knowledge around representation of RF related problems in software.
Responsible for advancing the design and implementation of software design around emitters, receivers and applications modelling environmental effects.
Contributing to documentation, ICDs and Specs, around the new system.
General: Delivering tickets contributing to the overall build, to time and quality expectations.
General: Reporting status and progress on developments. Escalating issues early and pro-actively.
General: Integrating with the team and the pre-existing development processes.

Experience needed:

Strong math acumen
Solid, Proven experience of C++
Understanding needs of working with technical documentation, ICDs and requirements.
Tools: A background in using config management tools, such as Git, Jira and Visual Studio.
Knowledge of MATLAB
Understanding networking issues; IP connections, as well as JSON.
Full understanding of the system engineering lifecycle, V-model and the typical working practices of a defence industry project.
Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.

Desirable:

Knowledge of RF and it's terminology (dB. dBm)
Knowledge of defence industry and defence projects.
Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.
