Mortgage Underwriter (1st ad 2nd charge)

Location: Watford

5 days office-based

Salary: Up to £40,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package

Role Responsibilities:

As a Mortgage Underwriter, your primary responsibility is to manage allocated cases from start to finish. This includes:

- Entering and updating borrower data in the Fusion lending platform.
- Ensuring accurate recording of all loan aspects on Fusion, adhering to underwriting guidelines.
- Assessing mortgage applications to ensure compliance with our underwriting criteria.
- Providing clear and timely updates to brokers.
- Proactively following up with brokers for any outstanding requirements.
- Ensuring all underwriting aligns with company policy and regulatory standards.
- Underwriting cases within the company's risk appetite.
- Cultivating positive relationships with third-party suppliers such as brokers and solicitors to facilitate smooth business operations.
- Managing a pipeline of cases from inception to completion.
- Nurturing broker relationships crucial to the growth of WOSL.
- Conducting all work in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Skills:

- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Successful completion of internal competency tests post-induction.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of FCA regulations.
- Experience in underwriting 1st and/or 2nd charge mortgage applications
