WasteRecruit have been retained by a leading environmental services provider to recruit a Site Chemist. Based at the company’s waste transfer station in North Wales, your main duties will include:

* Ensuring site permit conditions regarding waste inputs / outputs and treatment methods are adhered to.

* Receipt, sampling, handling, segregation and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous solid and liquid wastes, in accordance with the site Environmental Permitting conditions and current Waste legislation.

* Ensuring site H&S and environmental systems are adhered to.

* Ensuring that all records are accurate and kept up to date.

* Ensuring effective operation of a stock system for waste stored on site.

* Ensuring effective operation of a system for the maintenance of the laboratory and plant equipment is in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines and relevant legislation.

* Maintaining and updating local laboratory procedures and QC systems.

* Maintaining and updating plant and laboratory risk assessments.

* Ensuring all equipment is calibrated as per company standards.

* Ensuring housekeeping standards of laboratory and plant are kept to a high standard.

* Liaising and building strong relationships with customers, brokers, third party waste outlets and other relevant bodies (e.g., the Environment Agency/NRW).

Candidate requirements:

* Educated to at least HNC level in chemistry or related discipline.

* Numerate and computer literate.

* Knowledge of H&S legislation related to the Company's activities (training will be provided).

* Knowledge of Environmental legislation as related to the Company's activities.

* Working knowledge of waste industry

* Team player

* Good communication skills

* Able to work on own initiative.
