As a member of the Asset Management team, you willbe responsible for leading a team in the delivery of mechanical and electrical detailed surveying and design solutions. You will need to ensure the provision and successful delivery of mechanical and electrical services. Ideally you will have experience across a range of sectors including defence, commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education and leisure within both public and private domains.
This role will include all aspects of a mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy. You must be able to carry out calculations, estimate costs and manage finances for project budgets. You will have the passion and drive to manage projects in accordance with the clients brief and programme, developing good business and customer relations. Your works will range from site surveys through to conceptual design, controlling and maintaining the quality of work in accordance with Tetra Tech policies and standards as well as providing ad hoc advice and guidance to our clients.
Having a strong building services engineering background, either as a tradesperson or through an M&E design career, you will have excellent knowledge of engineering plant, equipment and a detailed understanding of applicable building services standards.
The position will include
Undertaking field works including energy & engineering audits, energy & engineering surveys, reports and projects
Customer meetings and presentations
Surveying and Performance Reporting
Ability to communicate and influence at all levels

Build and maintain excellent client relationships
Work effectively whilst under pressure
Plan ahead and prioritise workload
Appraise pre-tender D&B employers requirements and specifications to advise pre-construction team of responsibilities and potential risks and opportunities
Production and monitoring of project design delivery plans
Preparation of external design consultants scope of works
Draft external design consultants appointments including milestone deliverables schedules
Implementation of procedures for the flow and quality of design information through to the pre-construction and operational teams
Management of design, design co-ordination and interfacing between all professional parties
Ensuring the contractual obligations of the employers requirements are understood and fulfilled
Offer engineering solutions to improve value, efficiency or reduce capital cost
Undertake gap analysis and engineering appraisals on 3rd party designs
Prepare and issue monthly design progress reports
Complete detailed review of external designers submissions, including building physics
Capture and all project variations during the design process
Attend tender interviews, client meeting and project meetings, representing Tetra Tech as and when required
Assist operational colleagues with project technical support
Where required, review statutory compliance documentation pertaining to Building Regulations, H&S and Fire Safety
Identify issues which may affect other projects in the broader portfolio and share information using available resources and generate portfolio wide analysis for reporting to asset management team and clients
Undergo a full DBS (CRB), SC check if required
The ability to win work and develop further business opportunities through relationship building will also be a key requirement of the role.
Technical / Commercial
Working closely with the Project Management Team and other Heads of Practice you will be required to prepare tenders and quotations for the Asset Management Team
Support the asset management team in identifying ways to reduce cost, improve efficiency and drive best value across client portfolios
Develop solutions based on relevant best practice
Contributes to the delivery of innovative solutions for clients
Ensure that costs are managed and controlled to ensure the achievement of project profitability
Ensures that all project activities are managed in line with group policy and procedures (Policy100)
Pro-actively identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and efficient ways of working within projects and more widely across the business ensuring that this is shared with colleagues
Pro-actively identifies business development opportunities with existing and new clients and escalate for action and participate in bid submissions
About you
Essential
Experience with both a consultancy and a contractor
Several years in a design focused position (mechanical or electrical, ideally both)
M&E, HVAC & BMS Controls technical engineering expertise
HVAC plant performance review expertise
M&E plant maintenance and audit expertise
HVAC planned maintenance formation, specifications and tendering
Building Services Asset and Condition Surveying
HVAC / M&E plant condition reviews, lifecycle and preparation of capital expenditure forecasts
Compliance reviews and audits
Energy Audits and Surveys
The production of reports and technical papers
Ability to act as Expert Witness
Project Management for small M&E project and energy saving initiatives
Contract management and delivery
The skill set and passion for both engineering and leadership with the ability to manage and deliver mechanical engineering concept design across a wide range of sectors.
Proven experience of working in Revit and Navisworks software to support the engineering team and to achieve the successful delivery of projects.
You will hold as a minimum security clearance to MOD SClevel and ideally be at or able to attain clearance to DV level.
Experience of working within the built environment
Experience of interpreting information and undertaking analysis of information from differing sources to formulate a conclusion
Robust project and programme management capability
Ability to work away from the home office and potentially abroad
Educated to at least degree level in mechanical / Electrical engineering, building services engineering
Chartered and member of relevant body (working towards this will be considered)
Experience in the management of building services projects from concept through to handover
Proven ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies
Strong communication skills
Ability to teach and mentor junior engineers to aid their development and improve the quality of engineering output
Desirable
Experience within a similar role, preferably within an outsourced building services or facilities/asset management role
Knowledge of asset management principles.
Change control experience within projects
Building strong working relationships with other stakeholders whilst ensuring that the best interests of the projects are promoted and maintained.
Experience with web based (database) software platforms.
