To support our growing business, Magdalene are looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager in North west England to manage our technical engineering resource: Project Engineers (PEs) working across a range of projects for our customer, SPEN.
Who are we? Magdaleneoperates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Companyand ispart of the Telecom Division of M Group Services.Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliverManaged Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.
What will you be doing?
Reporting into the SPEN Head of Delivery, you willbe responsible for the safety, quality, performance and leadership of a team of multi-skilledproject engineers in the relevant region i.e. Scotland or the North West/North Wales, working in close co-operation with the Senior Project Managers/Project Managers in the SPEN Delivery team plus the Field Managers in the SPEN Engineering team to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality and safety standards
Whatwill your key responsibilities be?
Managing the day to day operations of the Project Engineers (PEs) and driving their delivery to ensure project milestones are met and work is carried out to the correct quality, health and safety standards and within budget
Working in very close co-operation with the Magdalene Senior / Project Managers to ensure the latest project priorities are understood and resource is aligned appropriately
Ensuring the PEs have the right skills, equipment and training to support the wide variety of customer projects, upskilling, mentoring and coaching as appropriate where skills/competency gaps exist
Ensuring the required levels of resource is available to meet project commitments, including recruiting or sourcing external resource if required
Establishing and maintaining relationships both internally within Magdalene as well as within the customer
What competencies are we looking for?
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate well at all levels internally and externally, both verbally and in writing.
Experience of working in either telecoms or other utility industries
A good technical knowledge of relevant telecoms technologies e.g. SDH/PDH, radio systems, IP networking/telephony, Optical Transmission equipment, AC & DC Power, Data Switches, Routers and WAPs, knowledge of Cisco & Alcatel products.
Be self-managing and able to set clear personal priorities
Experience of managing an engineering team
Flexible attitude to support changing business objectives in a fast-paced environment
A good appreciation of Project Management principles including projecting planning/scheduling and budgetary management
