Job Description
ASEND tuition supports vulnerable pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or they are at risk of being excluded. We are looking for an SEN Tutor with Key stage 4 experience to support an autistic pupil in Wokingham to help overcome his school-related stress.
What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Wokingham. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.
We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.
About Our Young Person
We are looking for a tutor for a 15 year-old boy at his home in Wokingham. He is autistic and also has ADHD and Dyslexia, which make it difficult for him to work through school. Despite these challenges, he is eager to improve his grades so that he can pursue his passions. He is a big fan of Formula 1, and would like to work with something related to this in the future. Music and working with animals is also on his radar, as he loves dogs and would like to work with them.
A tutor who can help the pupil develop trust and safe relationships would be ideal, as this is a concern for the pupil. He works best in environments where he trusts the person he is working with, so a tutor who is attentive and sensitive is essential. Someone who is experienced working with students with difficulties with reading (such as Dyslexia) is a requirement, to help the pupil better understand the material.

About ASEND
ASEND is a highly specialist SEND business, placing dedicated SEND professionals in schools and services throughout the UK.
In 2019 we were asked to support our first pupil at their home because the school felt they couldn’t meet his needs any further and they stopped attending. That pupil then successfully transitioned into a new school place and we were asked to support another young person. Over the next four years we have supported children and young people across numerous London Boroughs, Local Authorities just outside London and various schools. Many of whom made it into a new school or return to their school with the support of our bespoke tutoring service.
We see ourselves as a SEND company rather than a recruitment agency, which means that we do more than just staffing for SEN education. Our Directors all have a unique understanding of SEND and between them share a wealth of knowledge and experience unparalleled in the field. Our team all have a passion for helping young people with SEN overcome barriers and progress. Your experience with us and our young people will therefore feel very different to what you may normally expect as a result.
If you are seeking a truly rewarding position and are passionate about enriching the lives of young people, then do not hesitate to apply now and one of our specialist teams will review your application
