Job Description The role
As Director, Credit Risk, you'll build out and lead a small team of risk professionals to oversee our credit risk policies, set our governance framework and provide overall credit risk oversight for our merchant acquiring capabilities globally. Reporting into the Vice President of Risk, Compliance and Audit, you'll lead the creation, development, and implementation of a brand new 2nd line credit risk function.
How you’ll make an impact
Leading efforts to manage the department on Credit Risks, with broadened oversight of broader financial risks
Collaborating with other teams, such as Finance, Treasury, Enterprise Risk, Financial Partnerships to co-ordinate & perform second line oversight including policy guidance
Oversee the design of risk appetite metrics for monitoring liquidity and capital and monitor their application. To include capital, liquidity, and market risk.
Monitor overall credit risk portfolio (default probability, stress testing, risk rating distribution, portfolio concentration)
Develop Minimum Acceptance Criteria for high credit risk verticals
Partner with the 1st LoD to define risk appetite statements and KRIs Performing second line oversight of regulatory reporting, including the internal processes and controls that are leveraged for regulatory reporting purposes.
Manage key risk relationships with payment networks, acquirers and banking partners; drive discussions with partners on rules and regulations; provide reporting as needed
Performing ad hoc analysis of changes in business structure, new products, market events, and regulatory developments.
Assessing Checkout.com’s risk profile relative to its risk appetite for Credit Risk, as well as the effectiveness of controls and status of actions required to remediate weaknesses
Providing formal written periodic review summaries of Credit Risk Oversight for consideration at committees including Executive & Board Risk Committees.
Accountable for managing the respective portions of the overall Risk Management Framework and Risk Register
Qualifications What we’re looking for
10+ years of experience in financial services risk management in the Payments industry
Experience with payment network compliance and operations and credit risk management
Experience overseeing Credit Risks including working with finance on default models and loss provisioning.
Experience working for a global organization and partnering with colleagues across multiple time zones
Analytical leader, skilled at using metrics and analytics to make recommendations and drive decisions
People-focused leader with proven ability to build collaborative teams; develop people; and link performance to overall business objectives.
Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
A track record of delivery on complex projects, using strong relationship building skills and ability to influence and work cross-functionally
Excellent communication skills including the ability to convey complex ideas succinctly to various audiences
