Job Introduction
My client is currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Credit Management to be based in their Shared Service department in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to build and lead a dynamic credit control team. The Head of Credit will manage people and change; lead operational and strategic credit management, departmental improvements and in doing so, their achievements will contribute commercially to the bottom line of the UK operations. The Head of Credit Management will lead creative and 'best practice' change agendas, which will result in an award winning Credit Management function, delivering a world-class service at the lowest possible cost
Role Responsibility
Manage a challenging Credit Control function (2/3 Direct reports + wider team)
Develop both professionally and personally the credit management team
Develop processes to celebrate success; maintain performance levels, improve engagement & manage poor performance
Review staffing structure including span of control, ability levels & the current remuneration strategy in place
Instil a responsive and 'right first time' approach
Complete the transition programme from segments into BSS
Ensure the credibility of the BSS is enhanced through professional exposure & management of key and senior stakeholder relationships throughout the UK.
Continue the programme to develop processes and techniques to maximise cash collection and at the same time maintain customer goodwill
Identify and drive process improvements, including design and tracking of key metrics and leading the development of consistent and appropriate reporting
Establish and review credit and collection policies and manage the full cycle of credit including the review of credit applications, credit limits including risk analysis, new account set ups and account closures
Manages strategic change to credit function's systems, objectives and structures; change management will be a key element of the role & will necessitate in engaging & influencing key stakeholders across the UK in time other locations throughout the wider group
Develop stakeholder management relationships across all segments developing a professional business partnering affiliation
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
Hugely credible Credit Manager who has extensive experience of change & stakeholder management and who has operated at a senior level
Pro-active, responsive and action orientated
Experience of managing, leading, engaging and developing people
Ability to work with high degrees of change
Ability to drive and influence a team
Ability to develop relationships with the most senior stakeholders within UK
Experience of developing process improvements
Experience of making significant improvements in cash collection and DSO performance
Experience of working with a varied customer base including public/private sector & high value and low value customers
Desirable
Previous management experience gained in a Shared Service Centre
Experience of working with Six Sigma or other similar continuous improvement models
General understanding of all financial disciplines
