Job Description

We are searching for a Head of Reinsurance Asset Management for a leading insurer based in Central London.

You will be joining the Outwards Reinsurance (OWRI) Operations team, which is responsible for all operational aspects of outwards reinsurance including treaty set up, recoveries, cash allocation, credit control, reporting, broker communications and reconciliations. The team works closely with OWRI Purchasing, Claims, Finance and other operations functions to ensure a seamless and co-ordinated approach throughout all of its activities.

About the Role:

  • Review, design and implement the efficient operating model for OWRI operations
  • Define SLA’s, Controls KPI’s and KRI’s for OWRI Ops team.
  • Ensure the team is maintaining treaty records, processing payments, scheduling recoveries and more.
  • Design and implement remediation plans to drive/improve achievement of targets
  • Continuous improvement of data, reporting systems and processes
  • Build appropriate channels for communication and leadership, ensuring the team is aligned, enabling sharing of information through collaboration
  • Assist with regulatory, audit and change initiatives
  • Management of OWRI ops personnel and budget
  • Support talent management and succession planning through collaboration with HR and the leadership team
  • Develop the culture of the overall team and ensure that efficiency, accuracy, customer service and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do

What the ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience in the Insurance or Reinsurance Industry
  • Qualified and experienced accountant
  • A good understanding of processes and controls. Knowledge of UK and US GAAP insurance accounting
  • The ability to manage a team in all aspects of the Reinsurance Procedures from First Advice to Final Settlement
  • Must be proficient in Reinsurance Recovery Procedures and Credit Control
  • Previous experience of implementing Reinsurance Programming and Framework within a general insurance operation.
  • Ability to encourage and motivate other team members to do their best for the team and the organisation
  • Ability to inspire change
  • Excellent judgement in recommending potential courses of action
