TEC Partners are recruiting a PCR Technician for a leading IVD Diagnostic company to support their product development of a next generation molecular diagnostics platform.


This position is for an early-stage molecular diagnostics company who are developing a next-generation platform that enables rapid detection of viruses such as COVID-19 and Influenza in just five minutes, directly at the point of care.

PCR Lab Technician role:

Reporting to the Assay Development Manager, you will be part of the lab biology team, working to evaluate the performance of their rapid RT-PCR assays?as they undertake development and transfer to manufacture activities. You will work across standard and next generation technologies, collaborating with other science and engineering?teams?to deliver performance evaluation data and contribute to system improvement and product development. You will be formulating and preparing reagents for assay development and undertaking quality control checks. You will perform PCR on standard and next generation instrumentation and be hands on in the Validation and Quality Control required for regulatory approval of a?first?product.

This role will be required to support the biology team across a range of activities including platform and assay development with a strong focus on PCR. The role-holder will work alongside research scientists and technicians to ensure laboratory facilities run efficiently and reagents are prepared and controlled to the highest standards. You must be passionate about delivering exceptional standards across all activities and will take pride in your attention to detail. You must have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and be prepared to support across multiple research areas.

PCR Lab Technician requirements:

Essentials:

  • A minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology or a related discipline
  • Experience of working in a laboratory setting
  • Understanding and experience of PCR technologies
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritise
  • Willingness to work on projects as part of a team with shifting priorities
  • Possessing a 'can-do' attitude
  • Strong communication skills and will be able to show evidence that you can present succinctly and clearly to others

Desirables:

  • Experience in the In-vitro diagnostics industry
  • Experience in QA/QC
  • Experience working under ISO13485 or comparable standards
  • Experience in laboratory co-ordination or management
  • Experience of lyophilisation
  • Experience of collaboration across disciplines, e.g. in engineering or data science
