Job Title: Head of Business Development

Location: Atherton, Manchester, M46

Salary: £70,000 + OTE

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Position:

As Head of Business Development, you will develop and lead the company in sourcing, managing, and implementing new business opportunities. You will have a thorough understanding of the Facilities Management market and strategic selling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the delivery and presentation of Facilities Management/Maintenance bids working closely with the Board of Directors, including Account Directors and wider Operational Team
  • Build a strong pipeline of Facilities Management business development opportunities, developing, defining, and closing new business opportunities nationwide
  • Developing the key wins and commercial offerings that meet the client's needs and delivering new business
  • Leading bids through the procurement cycle, providing strategic leadership for the bid team and act as the customer or client interface
  • Working with the internal Account Management Team and Projects Team in the generation, management, and conversion of a suitable pipeline of work that reflects the current and anticipated business plan
  • Build strong relationships with the client, ensuring necessary information is extracted from them so that bids go beyond just meeting the criteria
  • Maintain cost model through company or industry related changes
  • Provide ideas to attract new clients and keep senior management updated about the marketplace and competitor activity
  • Contact companies to establish needs, determine decision makers and present how the company's services can support the client's needs
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to ensure selling and business development time is maximised and activity and revenue targets/KPIs are achieved

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated track record of generating leads/business opportunities and winning work
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Likely to have more than 10 years managerial and/or technical experience
  • Excellent leadership and motivational people management skills
  • Professional acumen, with excellent senior level influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Energetic, resilient, passionate, self-starter
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial acumen - understanding of contractual, financial risk factors
  • Excellent IT skills, including a working knowledge of presentation software packages, preferably Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
