Lead Applications Platform Engineer - Manchester / Agile

DWF is currently looking to recruit a Lead Applications Platform Engineer into our IT - Applications & Development Team. This role will be performed in an agile way, working from our Manchester office as well as remotely.

Reporting directly to the Applications Delivery Manager you will have overall responsibility for the improvement of site reliability and performance by applying a software engineering mind set to the IT Applications portfolio (more than 90 applications). You will work within the ITIL framework as the Application Lead for problem management.

Your remit will as such involve the problem management, identification, prioritisation, resolution, control, review and reporting of BAU issues, including incident management, risk reduction, management of service desk escalations etc.

The main duties of this role

  • Lead problem investigations from start to finish by facilitating root cause investigations, post-mortem and managing the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
  • Ensure DWF Information Security standards are built and maintained in all applications and application change activity.
  • Support the integration of new business (mergers, acquisitions and lateral hires) to DWF ways of working and the standard application set.
  • Working with the Incident Manager to own application engineer activities require to fix interruptions to service identified during incident management
  • Working with the Service Delivery Manager to proactivity identify problems and create action plans to identify and eliminate root causes.
  • Perform knowledge transfer presentations and create a structured knowledge base repository for both the customer and support teams.
  • Working within SLA and engaging the customers to ensure a high level of service
  • Working with the Service Desk Manager to be a point of escalation for the second line team when resolving more challenging issues that the Service Desk need assistance with
  • Maintain and enrich knowledge base and documentation
  • Review outputs from daily checks and be an escalation point for any issues identified
  • Continually looking to improve accessibility, reliability and availability of applications and manage a suite of reports that monitors against thresholds & includes insight into usage.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and proactive identification and resolution of problem hotspots
  • Ownership of application support requests and prioritisation of multiple / complex issues, rationalising the impact. Bringing together the right people and skills to resolve at first point of contact and providing root cause analysis and follow up action plans.

You will have an intuitive problem solving ability with a diverse foundation of knowledge, skills and experiences. You will be passionate about listening to the customer, user experience and adoption and possess strong interpersonal, written & communication skills.
