ROLE OBJECTIVES

We are looking for a Lead Developer to manage a team of developers in delivering technical solutions to support business operations. As well as being a mentor and leader for other developers, you will be a key person in driving technical improvement and innovation to allow the business to grow and become more efficient.

Working closely with BAs, Testers and project managers, the Lead Developer will ensure that delivery work is sized, planned and then implemented within the committed sprint to a high level of quality. Using their technical skills and experience the Lead Developer will ensure the team build modern & efficient systems in a way that support continued growth.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role has 2 key areas of accountability with time split between them on a 60 (technical)/40(Leadership) basis but varying based on project delivery and people priorities

Technical Delivery

  • Develop changes to internal systems based on agreed business requirements
  • Ensure changes are delivered to the business on time and to the required quality
  • To contribute to and drive the technical direction and roadmap of the IT estate
  • To adopt the latest technologies where relevant and continuously improve the quality of the teams output through innovative solutions, best practises and modern development processes

Leadership

  • Day-to-day line management of permanent and contract developers including 121s, holiday approvals, HPP, salary reviews etc
  • Recruitment of new developers
  • Resource planning and allocation
  • Timesheet approvals of contractors
  • To be aware of and comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Gazprom Energy Data Protection policy, Equal Opportunities policy, and the Email and Internet Acceptable Usage Policy, in addition to Fire and Health and Safety Regulations.

The role holder may also be required to carry out any other duties within the scope and purpose of this role as requested by their line manager and in line with business needs.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to explain technical detail to non-technical colleagues
  • Collaborative working style to engage with the rest of the team and ensure delivery
  • Takes accountability and full ownership of the tasks assigned and actively seeks tasks that’s have been missed
  • Creative and Innovative thinker to propose and/or implement new solutions
EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrable experience in a commercial development environment
  • Previous experience in the use of the following technologies
  • C#/.Net 4.5 and above or .Net Core
  • Desktop or web based applications e.g. WFP or ASP.Net MVC
  • Entity Framework
  • TSQL on SQL Server
  • Web services (SOAP/XML) and REST
  • Unit Testing & dependency Injection,
  • Continuous Integration & Deployment Automation
  • Working experience of Agile/Scrum delivery teams
  • People Line management responsibilities
  • Recruitment processes
  • Previous experience in the use of Docker containers and/or Microsoft Service Fabric (desirable)
EDUCATION
  • Any Microsoft or industry recognised certifications would be beneficial e.g. MCTS (desirable)
  • Degree in Computing or Computer Science related degree (desirable)
