­­Marketing Executive

Our well established and busy client based in Hertford is recruiting a Marketing Executive to support the Marketing & Business Development Manager in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. You will be expected to work as a team member within your department and the company as a whole. This role attracts a permanent salary of £28,000, plus excellent benefits including pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, well-being vouchers, allocated parking and non-contractual bonus scheme.

Duties and responsibilities


  • Assist with the implementation of the company’s marketing and business development strategy
  • Assist with the delivery of marketing campaigns across multiple channels (online, offline and events) ensuring they achieve the objective, run smoothly and deadlines are met
  • Contribute to web development projects including working with agencies on the objective, implementation, delivery, launch and review
  • Publish content on the company’s website using the content management system (Wordpress) ensuring it is optimised for search engines, up to date and accurate
  • Manage the article schedule with practice areas and post regular content on the website and social media
  • Maintain the company’s mailing data (MailChimp) through accurate recording of contact information, unsubscribes, preferences and use of segments
  • Co-ordinate the newsletter programme (MailChimp) working with areas of the business and our agency on the scheduling, content, design, sign off, deployment and analytics
  • Create and deploy other email communications e.g. event invitations
  • Manage social media on Linked In, Twitter and Facebook (using Hootsuite) by generating content and engaging with our network as well as reviewing analytics
  • Collect news for the company’s internal newsletter, build it in Mailchimp, proof, organise sign off and deployment
  • Write content for a variety of purposes such as design briefs, news stories, profiles and standfirsts
  • Co-ordinate the submissions process for directories including briefing directors and senior members of staff on best practice and updating online profiles on directory platforms
  • Work alongside the operations team on the implementation of enquiry tracking, client reviews and questionnaires and looking for ways to improve the process and learn from the data
  • Monitor our review platform, manage profiles and post responses
  • Assist with competitor and market research activities
  • Assist with the advertising and editorial calendar of articles and adverts
  • Manage the ordering and printing of branded stationery and collateral and monitor stock levels
  • Share networking opportunities with staff members, maintain the Events calendar, and manage bookings for events they attend
  • Diary management for business development meetings
  • Hosting online events on Zoom and Teams to enable our staff members, managers and Directors to network through webinars and roundtable discussions, co-ordinating the technical aspects, invitations and responses, presentation, and delegate communications
  • Liaising with the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce (and other networking groups) regarding events that we co-host plus other presentation and speaking opportunities for our organisation
  • End to end delivery of physical events, in house and external, including creating a format and critical path, venue/room bookings, sourcing suppliers, catering, entertainment, decorations, communications, set up and pack down
  • Organise and run events for employees
  • Support for various public relations initiatives such as charitable fundraising, patronage of local museums and festivals, and the company’s involvement with the office of the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire
  • Use Google Analytics, email and social media analytics to contribute to the reporting on performance of marketing and business development activities and make suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to budget management through cost tracking and processing invoices

Qualifications and experience

  • At least two years’ experience in marketing is essential
  • Experience working in professional services is essential
  • Experience working with agencies and external organisations is desirable
  • A higher education qualification, especially in marketing or business, is desirable

  • Knowledge of CMS, SEO, CRM and data management - essential
