Job Description

Would you like to work within a market-leading software engineering team facilitating the research and development of groundbreaking audio machine learning audio algorithms and implementation?

Does the idea of joining a growing successful start-up, with global brands in their client list, and with one of the most successful managerial teams in the business appeal to you?

To be clear, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer. Someone who can solve software problems, understand performance design decisions, and work together as a team, learning new things to create the best solutions possible.

You'll be joining a team of 5 engineers who have a very good range of skills already, and as such we don't need you to tick every single box. The more you can bring to the party the better, but it's that ability to find solutions across the board that will set you apart.

The role itself will see you developing the platform for machine learning engineers and data engineers, they will be your customers. You will also do some work with the research and implementation teams. Creating everything from web applications, to tools that allow data to be recorded, and algorithms to be ran effectively. Understanding the longevity and lifecycle of data. Working within the limitations of python to get up to a high number of threads. If you have experience of AWS then you will also have the opportunity to utilise those skills. This is a varied role.

Team dynamic is really high on the priority list. You need to be someone who is interested in skill sharing. Learning from the existing team members, and sharing your own knowledge too. Our client are big on culture, and want to make sure that this is a positive working environment for all.

Benefits and work balance:

  • Salary package up to £65k
  • A flexible suite of additional benefits
  • Flexible working hours
  • Flexible working arrangements - if you live in Cambridge it would be preferred if you came to the office regularly, although if you live much further afield then it's understood that you will only be able to make it in much less frequently.

Requirements for application:

  • Python
  • Linux - Preferably for multi-processor, multi-host web service, and command-line development
  • A proven ability to make a difference within a software team
  • A team player who wants to simultaneous learn from, and impart knowledge to a team

Beneficial but not required:

  • SQL / Postgres / NoSQL / Sqlite or similar
  • Some experience with machine learning platform tools: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Airflow, Spark, MLflow)
  • Scientific python development: Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Matplotlib etc.
  • Infrastructure provisioning (Docker, Ansible, HashiCorp Packer, Terraform)
