Procurement Manager / Commodity & Purchasing Manager with strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills and Good Quality, Engineering, Process and Materials knowledge, is required to join our team at DAF / Leyland Trucks based in Leyland, Lancashire, North West England.

SALARY: circa. £45,000 per annum + Corporate Benefits Package (see below)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job vacancy available for an experienced Procurement Manager / Commodity & Purchasing Manager with strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills and Good Quality, Engineering, Process and Materials knowledge.

As part of the PACCAR Purchasing Europe Department, as the Procurement Manager / Commodity & Purchasing Manager you will join the Purchasing Team based in Leyland that have the responsibility for Purchasing activities relating to the DAF LF, CF, XF and XG models. This responsibility requires the management of the Supply Base and sourcing activities to support projects within our UK, European and South American facilities, in order to improve the Quality and Cost competitiveness of the DAF product.

As the Procurement Manager / Commodity & Purchasing Manager you will develop commodity strategies, work with suppliers to implement cost management programmes and manage a complex and varied workload.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Procurement Manager / Commodity & Purchasing Manager will include:

  • Management of a complex supplier package with an annual spend in excess of £50M
  • Develop commodity strategies working closely with global purchasing colleagues
  • Achievement and reporting of Company targets on cost control, quality improvement and lead time improvement
  • Development of partnership relationships with vendors within the package
  • Work with suppliers to implement PACCARs Cost Management Programme and ensure Six Sigma projects are defined and implemented
  • Manage a complex and varied workload, ensuring attention is maintained on key actions

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Very strong interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Must be a good communicator with a flexible, self - managing approach to workload and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Confident presenter at senior management level both internally and externally
  • Good Quality, Engineering, Process and Materials background
  • CIPS Membership (Desirable)
  • Self-motivated, flexible and team player with ability to meet deadlines
  • Degree level required
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt (Desirable)
  • Driving License
  • Passport - Willing to travel on a regular basis and prepared to spend time away from home & abroad
