About The Role

Here at Morrisons, we’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to be based at and support our Stockton Distribution centre. This depot is our North East hub with three vast warehouses processing groceries, fresh produce and bread. Operations never stand still with a 530-strong team processing 400,000 cases of groceries every week!

Supporting finance in this area, you will work work closely with colleagues in distribution and supply chain to deliver exceptional service to our shops and wholesale customers. We maintain financial control and analyst performance to allow us to work together with our operational partners to ensure this service is delivered in a cost effective manner.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:


Period End Procedures - carrying out cost reviews with the wholesale logistics team, preparing and posting accruals and prepayments, and completing balance sheet reconciliations


Reporting - Updating the core logistics P&L and provide variance analysis to measure periodic and YTD performance against Budget, and updating outturn for remainder of the financial year


Owning, maintaining and communicating weekly reporting on various KPI’s


Working closely with the core logistics team to understand current and future projects, and accurately report and forecast associated costs and performance

For this role, we're looking for someone who has:


Previous experience of working at an Assistant Accountant level within industry or practice


Either a completed or partially completed accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)


Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the business


Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines
