Role: Assistant Capital Accountant

Location: Sheffield

Duration: Temporary Until April 2023

Sellick Partnership are recruiting for an experience Assistant Capital Accountant sought for a public sector organisation based in Sheffield for a temporary assignment to assist the organisation until April 2023. The role is to support the Capital Accountant in reconciling and interpreting financial management information to ensure that the organisation is accurately monitoring expenditure, income and cash flow.

The Assistant Capital Accountant will be responsible for:

Provide high quality financial services, information and analysis and advice to all levels of the organisation
To ensure that the targets in the 3-5 financial plans are achieved
Facilitate the development of the organisations services through input into the planning and negotiating of contracts
Provide expert technical advice and information on the organisation's Capital programmes and Asset Based
Ensure national Capital funding is not put at risk
Provide financial management information, advice and training on the Capital programme and Asset Base
Provide the financial accounting team with the accounting and cash flow/working capital information on fixed assets and capital charge assessments
Proactively manage the organisations central capital charges budget
Production of timely and accurate high quality budget reports and supporting financial information or the directorate managers
Prepare the financial plan and efficiency plan for the organisation and monitor as required
Support costing section in the production of reference costs and service line reporting
Evaluate the financial aspects of service developments, clinical service changes and business cases etc
Plan and organise systems to monitor the financial performance of care groups/directorates
Respond to ad-hoc requests from budget managers for financial analysis of all aspects of the service
Proactively help the senior finance staff to support various improvements schemes with certain directorates
Liaise with budget managers on payroll matters by providing accurate staffing costs when required

The ideal candidate for the Assistant Capital Accountant role should ideally have:

Experience of working in the public sector
AAT qualified or CCAB/CIMA Part qualified would be beneficial
Experience across Capital Accounting function and Management Accounting function
Experience of manipulating/interrogating ledger and information systems
Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, policies and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of VAT regime

The Assistant Capital Accountant will need to able to be an excellent communicator, with experience of communicating with directorate level stakeholders, to provide the organisation with a professional who is compassionate, committed, and inclusive, who can work off their own initiative. The successful candidate will need to be able to hit the ground running in this extraordinary fast paced environment.
