Job title: Transaction Accountant (6 month Fixed Term Contract)

Reports to: Purchases and Expenses Control Manager

(Will also work closely with and assist other members of the wider Finance team)

The Finance Department is responsible for all aspects of Financial Control for EDF Trading and the EDF Trading Group, including accounting for, controlling, and reporting on all commodity trading activity, subsidiary entities (holding structured transactions, and specialised investment or operating assets), group accounting and controlling activities, budgeting, planning and forecasting, and all internal and external financial reporting.

The Transaction Control team within Finance are responsible for transaction processes relating to overheads costs, supplier management, and employee expenses for EDF Trading. Additionally, the team is responsible for maintaining up-to-date and accurate accounting records in financial systems for selected EDF Trading subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

Registering ~ invoices a month, matching to purchase order and checking the accuracy of coding.
Posting, checking and reconciliation of staff expense claims
Reconciliation of accounts to supplier statements
Provide first line of support for all invoice queries, ensuring timely resolution.
Set up of new suppliers in the ledger and updating on excel spreadsheet
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers
Review of aged creditors report, highlighting and clearing old balances as required.
Maintain up to date and accurate accounting records in EDFT financial systems
Primarily responsible for the daily overheads payments process, including UK suppliers (BACS), Foreign payments and expenses payment runs. Checking bank details for payments, payment runs and organising verifiers and authorisers to release payments
Resolving settlements issues
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives e.g. system enhancements, workflow and automation
Static data maintenance Ledger system
Challenge, maintain, operate and review internal controls and processes
Produce late payment reports
Cash postings and allocations
General office administration
Assist with on-going departmental projects and ad-hoc tasks/reporting

Skills/Experience required

Proficient in the use of Microsoft, must have good Excel skills
Understanding of basic accounting functions - AP/AR, reconciliations, double-entry bookkeeping is essential
General ledger experience (SUN Systems beneficial)
 - SUN systems experience beneficial
 - Workday Financials system experience beneficial
Ability to problem solve
Ability to manage multiple deadlines
